DOMINION'S PLANS FOR A COASTAL VIRGINIA OFFSHORE WIND FARM
Speaker: Cale Jaffe, Professor of Law, University of Virginia School of Law
Shifting to renewable energy is vital to containing climate change. But, wind farms often are controversial. Professor Jaffe has represented the Sierra Club in the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind docket before the Va. State Corp. Commission. Join us and get the lowdown on this project and the surrounding issues!
This meeting is open to the public. It will include Professor Jaffe's presentation and a question-and-answer session.

This is your chance to dig deep and arm yourself with the information we all need to plan for the future!

All are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Cville100 Climate Coalition. The meeting will include short updates from member organizations regarding their recent and upcoming activities. In addition, there will be two special updates.
Gabe Dayley, Climate Protection Program Manager for Albemarle County, will speak briefly about the county's climate risk assessment which is to be released later this month.
Tom Olivier, Cville100 Board Member, will provide an update on Albemarle County's Comp Plan and its relation to climate action.
May 22, 2022, CVILLE100 CLIMATE COALITION GENERAL MEETING, ON ZOOM 6:30 - 8 pm
Integrating Resiliency Planning into Current Plans
Featured speaker: In this presentation, Annette Osso, director of Resilient Virginia, described strategies for integrating resiliency planning into current local government plans. She presented examples from other communities that can be used in local planning. At times generating an entire resiliency plan can be overwhelming for small communities. Ms Osso described how Albemarle county can make resiliency plans by integrating ideas of resiliency into the community planning. The presentation along with resources and Q&A can be viewed here.

Resources for Climate Action Planning in Albemarle County a Piedmont Environmental Council Report
Kat Imhoff and Josh Press-Williams provided an overview of the PEC's climate paper, including examples of exceptional climate planning from around the country and areas of strategic importance for climate action in the county. Bill Bohn and Annette Osso, of Resilient Virginia, rounded out the conversation by providing a sneak peak at information being analyzed as part of the Albemarle County Risk and Vulnerability Assessment.

November 9, 2021 Cville100 Public Zoom Meeting:
The Update of the Albemarle County Comprehensive Plan
County Planning staff presented an a summary of the process for updating the Comprehensive Plan. The meeting was recorded and can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
The meeting consisted of the following two parts:
Part I: County Planning Staff Presentations on the Update Process
Michaela Accardi and Tori Kanellopoulos, both Senior Planners in the Albemarle County Department of Community Development, discussed the process for the forthcoming update of the Albemarle County Comprehensive Plan. Gabe Dayley, Albemarle County Climate Protection Program Manager, participated. Questions were answered by the County staff.
Part II: Activist Perspectives on the Forthcoming Update
Tom Olivier, a member of the board of Cville100, led an informal discussion with meeting attendees of activism possibilities during the update. Topics for discussion included strategies and tactics for comprehensive plan activists, collaborative opportunities, plusses and minuses of the existing plan, and content proposals for the new plan from activists.
